India’s vice-captain KL Rahul has tested positive for Covid-19 and is likely to miss the T20I series against the West Indies.

Rahul was only named in the T20I squad for the West Indies series, subject to fitness, and his absence will create room for Ishan Kishan, Deepak Hooda and Sanju Samson.

Rahul has been out of action since the completion of IPL 2022.  The 30-year-old sustained a groin injury which sidelined him before the South Africa T20I series last month.

Rahul flew to Germany for its treatment and after undergoing a surgery, had seemingly recovered well before getting hit by Covid.

India and West Indies will square off in three ODIs from July 22-27 and the five match T20I series will commence on July 29.
