Bangladesh Tigers head coach Mizanur Rahman Babul heaped praises on Shakib al Hasan and said he is captaining the Test side very well.
Shakib was appointed as the Test captain for the third time after Mominul Haque resigned from the role due to poor performance in the Sri Lanka series.
Shakib was handed the Test captaincy for the first time when Mashrafe Mortaza was ruled out due to injury during the 2009 Caribbean tour.

The all-rounder was named the captain of the Test and T20I side in December 2017 again. But he couldn't skipper the side for too long as he received a one-year ban from the ICC in 2019.

“Shakib is an intelligent player. Shakib also captains in local cricket and has captained the national team before, so this should not be a problem for Shakib. He has captained very well. Shakib has enough intelligence to inspire the team. That's what I've seen. His few words inspire the team a lot,” said Babul.
Babul was disappointed with Nurul Hasan Sohan's dismissal during the first innings of the first Test, however, commended the way he made a comeback in the second innings.
“I have been working with Sohan for a long time, so after seeing that out, I didn't really like it. I wanted to call him too but a lot of times he doesn't pick up my calls, thinks I will scold him,”
“There is a pressure on him, he wants to ensure a place in the national team. He got two opportunities in a row, in the previous Test series with Pakistan, then there was a chance in New Zealand. He must take this opportunity. So even though he couldn't do well in the first inning, he tried in the second inning and did better,” he added.
