Bangladesh spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz was delighted by the reappointment of Shakib al Hasan as the Test captain of the Bangladesh national team.
Miraz, who got the best cricketer award during the Kool-BSPA Sports Award 2021 on Friday was also considered for captaincy by the board. However, Miraz reckoned that it was not possible as he consider Shakib as the right contender for the role.
"When there was Shakib Bhai, then how come me also. Shakib Bhai is an experienced campaigner. If you consider our current team situation, then Shakib Bhai is best," Miraz said.
Miraz believes Bangladesh can put up some good performance against West Indies under Shakib’s leadership.
"We played in the West Indies before and I believe a big challenge awaits us there. We are going to play all three formats this time. Last time we didn't play well in the Test series, but this time Shakib Bhai is there and he is in form and we will try to play good cricket. Hope our batting will overcome the bad patch soon," he added.
