Imrul wants Shakib to become the new Test captain

Bangladesh left-handed batter Imrul Kayes wants Shakib al Hasan to become the new Test captain and believes that if he plays consistently, Bangladesh Test cricket would change.
Following the resignation of Mominul Haque as the Test captain, Shakib was being considered to replace Mominul as the full-time captain.
“If Shakib becomes the captain of Test cricket then I would say it will be good for Bangladesh cricket. If a cricketer like Shakib plays Tests regularly, you will see a different side,” said Imrul.
Shakib missed a number of Test series due to injury or personal reasons, Imrul reckoned that if he had played those matches, Bangladesh would have performed better.
“A lot will change. We don't always get him. If we always get him, then you will see that the matches, we lost or drew would have been won. From this point of view, I think it is very important for him to become the captain,” he added.
Shakib is the only Bangladeshi player with the double of 4000+ Test runs and 200 wickets. There is no doubt about his experience in the format and his calibre as a Test cricketer.
