Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) released a new central contract list for the players on Thursday. The previous list of 24 members was cut down to 21 this year, Soumya Sarkar, Abu Jayed, Mohammad Saifuddin, Saif Hassan, and Shamim Hossain were excluded from the list.
BCB head selector Minhazul Abedin Nannu told the media that Saifuddin was not included owing to a back injury, while Rahi was dropped due to poor performance.
"Saifuddin has been injured. He has been ruled out since the last T20 World Cup. The board is providing him enough time. He went to see a doctor in London," Nannu said.

Nannu stated that Saifuddin will be returned to the national squad following his rehabilitation. Meanwhile, Saifuddin is now preparing for the Dhaka Premier League (DPL).
"On the positive side, he's recovering and getting ready to play in the Premier League. When he returns to the game, he will be available for the national team," he stated.
Rahi was dropped from the central contract despite being included in the Test squad for the tour of South Africa. However, his recent performance has caused concern among selectors.
"Rahi has been out of form for a long time. That's why he was excluded from the contract. If he becomes regular again, then we will add him,” he added.
New faces Mahmudul Hasan Joy and Yasir Ali got their central contracts for the Tests for the first time.
