Nick Hockley, the CEO of Cricket Australia, has stated that Australia is open to hosting a tri-series between India and Pakistan. Since 2013, Pakistan and India have only played in International Cricket Council (ICC) and Asian Cricket Council (ACC) competitions.

Ramiz Raja, the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), recently stated that he will propose the four-nation series to the International Cricket Council (ICC), adding that the proceeds from such a tournament might be split on a percentage basis among all ICC members.

However, the BCCI showed no interest and secretary Jay Shah said the interests of the chief of cricket bodies across the globe should be on expanding the game of cricket and it is more important than "short-term commercial initiatives".

Now, the CA has stated that matches between the two teams are something that "everyone in world cricket" wants to see.

Hockley stated that his board had not considered the concept, but that he would be open to hosting a tri-series between Pakistan and India.

"Personally, I really like the tri-series concept. It's worked well in the past. We'd be very open to hosting matches," Hockley told reporters in Rawalpindi, where Australia and Pakistan drew the first test in their three-match series.

"There are really big communities of both India and Pakistan living in Australia. It's a contest that everyone wants to see in world cricket and if we can help support further opportunities we would love to do that."

It must be noted that Pakistan and India are scheduled to play each other at the ICC T20 World Cup in Australia this year on October 23.
