Tamim makes surprise visit to Mirpur
12 Apr 25Bangladesh ODI captain Tamim was confident for their first away win in the upcoming series against South Africa which comprises two-Test and three ODIs.
"Look, we are at a stage in ODI cricket where I should not say anything other than win. Our goal is to win. This is true, it would be difficult. Our record is not good against them. However, record is such that it could change at any moment. A great example of this was the Test in New Zealand, where we were able to change the history,” Tamim told the media on Wednesday.

"I won’t say, we want to play good cricket - that's what I used to say 10 years ago. I want to win there. We will do whatever it takes to accomplish the goal. If we can achieve, that’s good, if we don’t get the result then we will work harder,”
Tamim breeding confidence from the New Zealand Test series where Bangladesh defeated the Kiwis for the first time away from home.
"It is possible to win, but we are proving it in different formats. Let’s say New Zealand, we could not win 30-32 matches. But that has changed. Hopefully, we will be able to change the record in South Africa. I can say one thing about my team, everyone believes we can do better,” he added.
Tiger failed to secure any win over the Proteas in South Africa, in total, they have lost six Tests, nine ODIs and four T20Is and one ODI was washed out in 2008.
Bangladesh will play a three-match ODI on 18, 20, 23 March respectively following that two-match Test series in South Africa.
