The Bangladesh Cricket Board summoned all-rounder Saifuddin on Tuesday for making misleading statements in the media yesterday [Monday].
Saifuddin, a right-arm pacer, met with BCB chairman Jalal Yunus and other influential members to discuss the situation and eventually apologized to the media.
While he was out with an injury for the last five-and-a-half months, the cricketer from Feni Monday stated that no one from the team management had contacted him.
"I am not in the national side and I am not thinking of the national team. When I get back in the side I will think again. I have been out of the field for five-and-a-half months. No one from among the national team's coaching staff or management contacted me. So what can I say by myself? When the team feels I am required, I will talk about the national team. Now I am in Abahani and my focus is here," said Saifuddin yesterday.

Saifuddin recently returned from England after undergoing treatment for back issues that had kept him out of competitive cricket since last year's T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates.

Following the meeting with the board, the cricketer clarified his statement.
“I spoke to the media [Monday]. I think I shouldn’t have spoken that way [against the board]. I gave the statements out of disappointment. I was part of the rehab and the board had sent me to London for treatment. I did not mention this rather said things against the board and I apologize for that,” said Saifuddin while speaking to reporters today at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
However, he alleged that the statement made by him to the media was misinterpreted. He has blamed some journalists for misleading his words.
“I didn’t actually speak against them (the coaches). Those of you who are journalists have misused the statement. I might have meant it differently. I couldn't explain something properly, it's my fault. We talked about these, why I said these, I was in touch with BCB, I was in rehab,”
“If the cricket board and cricketers don’t exist, you [Journalists] would not exist. If we do not tour outside the country, do not participate in a big stage like the World Cup, you will not be able to represent the country there. We have to be careful, and you have to be professional" he further added.
Although Saifuddin regrets it, the BCB is thinking of taking action against him. Chairman of the Cricket Operations Committee Jalal Yunus was surprised by the all-rounder’s statement.
“If there was anything to be said against the board, he could have said directly. He could discuss it with us. He has avoided the truth that surprised us. That's why we questioned him. We will now decide what action can be taken against him," Jalal quoted.
“We called him because we were surprised by his actions. I was most surprised that he said that neither the team management nor the coaching staff had contacted him for five and a half months. I was very surprised! Because he was in the middle of a program [Rehab] for more than 5 and a half months. Our physio Bayzid [Islam], our coaching management, stayed in contact with him and he was offered a rehab program,” he added.
