England's opening batter Jason Roy has pulled out of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) citing the COVID-19 bubble as a challenge to stay in the tournament for a longer period.
According to a report from Cricinfo, Roy informed the franchise Gujarat Titans of his decision last week. The English cricketer was signed by Gujarat Titans for his base price of Rs 2 crore at the mega auction.
Roy was the only specialist opener picked by Gijarat apart from Indian batter Shubman Gill.

This is the second time the Roy has pulled out of the IPL. He had earlier withdrawn from the 2020 edition due to personal reasons after being picked up by the Delhi Capitals for Rs 1.5 crore.
The 15th edition of the IPL is scheduled to begin on March 26 and will conclude in the last week of May.
Roy has scored 329 runs in 13 IPL matches at a strike rate of 129.01 and an average of 29.90. He has previously played for Gujarat Lions (2017), Delhi Daredevils (now Capitals) in 2018 and Sunrisers Hyderabad in last season.
