Iyer announced as KKR captain for IPL

Shreyas Iyer has been announced as Kolkata Knight Riders captain for IPL 2022, the franchise confirmed on Twitter on Wednesday.
"Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, say hello to the NEW SKIPPER of the #GalaxyOfKnights," KKR tweeted.
After a fierce bidding war, KKR purchased Iyer at the 2022 mega auction last weekend for a massive INR 12.5 crore. He previously led the Delhi Capitals in the IPL.
“I am extremely honoured to have gotten the opportunity to lead a prestigious team like KKR. The IPL as a tournament brings the best players from different countries and cultures together and I look forward to leading this great group of very talented individuals,” Shreyas Iyer said

Iyer led Delhi to their maiden IPL final in 2020. In 87 IPL appearances for the team since his debut in 2015, Iyer has scored 2375 runs at a strike-rate of 123.95.
