Just right before the game against the Khulna Tigers, there was a surprise change in the captaincy of Sylhet Sunrisers and later there was ball-tampering in the same contest.
On Monday, Ravi Bopara, the new captain of the squad, was found guilty of ball-tampering and that didn't go unnoticed.
In the ninth over of the game, Bopara came on to bowl his debut over. He wasted no time, and in his first over, he was caught ball-tampering.

When the umpires, Mahfuzur Rahman and Prageeth Jayashantha Rambukwella, noticed it, they pulled the ball away from Bopara. A TV clip showed Bopara messing with his left hand a few moments later.
The umpires brought in a new ball and decided to give Sylhet a 5-run penalty.
According to the playing conditions, clause 41.3.5, "if it is possible to identify the player(s) responsible for changing the condition of the ball, the umpires shall… change the ball forthwith. Additionally, the bowler's end umpire shall award 5 Penalty runs to the opposing side."
The law also says that the umpires shall then report the matter to the match referee "who shall take such action as is considered appropriate against the player(s) concerned".
After Mosaddek Hossain’s captaincy was taken away, Bopara came on for the toss with Khulna's Mushfiqur Rahim. He chose to field first after winning the toss.
Sylhet are currently sitting at the bottom of the table before they begin their Sylhet phase against Khulna.
