All-rounder Shakib al Hasan helped to down Comilla Victorians as Fortune Barishal beat Comilla by 32 runs in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) in Sylhet Monday.

Comilla dropped Faf du Plessis to make place for Karim Janat, a pace-bowling allrounder, but the top and middle orders were unable to complete the 156-run chase.

Imrul Kayes and Liton Das were unable to provide Comilla with the necessary start. Mominul Haque had the highest score of 30, but neither he nor his teammates pushed for the run rate.

Despite their success with the ball, Shanto and Gayle have failed to deliver with the bat for Barishal. Shanto's BPL run graph is flattening after failing to reach fifty in seven matches.

In this game, Tanvir Islam took him out for 1 after he botched a slog inside the powerplay. Gayle, who only made ten today, hasn't been able to keep up with Barishal.

Earlier, Barishal had a productive batting powerplay and a handy middle-order stand to post 155 for 5, which proved to be a winning total.

Shakib Al Hasan continued to shine with the bat and the ball, scoring his second fifty of the tournament before taking 2 for 20 in four overs.

Comilla was kept quiet by his usage of Barishal's offspinners. In their eight overs, Nayeem Hasan, Najmul Hossain Shanto, and Chris Gayle combined to take four wickets while conceding 44 runs. Nayeem finished with three for 29 while Dwayne Bravo added two more.

Shakib's half-century, his sixth overall in the BPL, featured four fours and two sixes, the majority of which came down the ground. He and Tohwid Hridoy shared 67 runs for the fourth wicket, with Hridoy scoring an unbeaten 31 off 37 balls.
