Players' union calls for reform of 'chaotic' global cricket calendar

Shakib al Hasan's all-round performance led Fortune Barishal to register a 14-run victory over Chattogram Challengers in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium on Tuesday.

Shakib smashed a half-century and took three wickets for the side as Barishal finished the Chattogram phase by picking up two wins from two matches.

Despite a good partnership of 70 runs by Afif Hossain and Shamim Patwary, Chattogram suffered a batting collapse and were reduced to 96-7 and eventually could manage 135 runs.

Afif top-scored with 39 runs 32 deliveries with three fours and two sixes and Shamim played a knock of 29 off 30 aided by two boundaries and a six.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz played a stormy innings of 26 off 13 with 3 fours and a six, but that could not save the game for the home side.

Apart from Shakib's three, Mujeeb Ur Rahman had figures of 3 for 9 while Dwayne Bravo and Mehedi Hasan Rana took two wickets each.

Earlier, Barishal posted 149 runs in 19.1 overs. Mrittunjoy Chowdhury was the pick of the bowling attack as he took 4 for 12 in his two overs.

Shakib made a half-century, he departed after hitting 50 off 31 with three fours and a same number of sixes. 

Najmul Hossain Shanto and Chris Gayle played brief knocks of 28 and 25 respectively.
