All-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who is playing for the Chattogram Challengers in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) had decided to leave the team after he was stripped of his captaincy just three hours before their match against Sylhet Sunrisers on Saturday.

Miraz accused Chattogram Challengers chief operating officer (COO) Syed Yasir Alam of his unexpected withdrawal from the team.

However, after a team meeting on Sunday Miraz decided to stay on as a Chattogram player but will not take over as captaincy. He ensured he will give his best for the team whenever the team needs him on the field.

Sheikh Sohail, chairman of the BPL's governing council said the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will investigate the incident. He accused both sides and Miraz should have waited before taking such actions.

"Actually, we heard about the incident yesterday. We held a talk, I was there, Mallick was there too. After talking to everyone, what we have seen is that Miraj is also wrong here, management is also wrong. Both were found guilty. Being a national cricketer, it was not appropriate for Miraz to act like this during the tournament. He should have waited,” Sohail told the media on Monday.

Miraj had written to the BPL's governing council seeking his exclusion from the BPL, citing his mother's illness after he was stripped of the captaincy. Sohail said that the incident will be inspected when BPL returns to Dhaka.

"Since the BCB committee were there, he could have waited. The franchise also has an issue, I will not spare them either. Their hearing will be in a few days. We will hold a hearing with both sides. The franchise should have been patient here too. They could do something by discussing among themselves,” he added.
