Bangladesh won their first match on Thursday in the Under-19 World Cup 2022, defeating Canada by eight wickets in Basseterre, St. Kitts.
The victory would keep the defending champions' aspirations alive after a big seven-wicket loss to England in their first match of the tournament.

After winning the toss, Canada got off to a sluggish but consistent start, scoring 30 runs in the first 10 overs thanks to openers Anoop Chima and Jash Shah.
However, in the 11th over, Ripon Mondal, the match's star, provided the lads in red and green their first breakthrough when he trapped Jash for eight. Captain Anoop held his ground on one side, but his team was reduced to 88-5 in the 32nd over as wickets fell on the other.
Before Canada were bundled out for 136 in the 45th over, Anoop was dismissed for 63 off 117 balls, leaving his team on 126-8. Ripon, a medium pacer, finished with 4-24 in 8.3 overs, while SM Meherob, an off-spinner, finished with 4-37 in his entire quota of 10 overs.
In response, Bangladesh lost opener Mahfijul Islam for 12 runs, but Iftekhar Hossain and PN Nabil contributed 76 runs for the second wicket to make the chase easier. Nabil was dismissed for 33 runs, while Iftekhar remained unbeaten on 61 runs from 89 balls, including seven fours. Aich Mollah, who finished the match with a six, was still unbeaten on 20.
Bangladesh will face the United Arab Emirates in their next match on Saturday.
