Bangladesh former captain Mashrafe bin Mortaza was out of cricket for almost a year as he is waiting to return to competitive cricket with Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) for minister group Dhaka. He has been practicing since January 6 ahead of this tournament.
However, during today’s (Tuesday) practice, the old back injury of Mashrafe has returned. Which has created doubt about Mashrafe's inclusion in the first match.
Mashrafe came to practice at Mirpur Academy ground in the morning. After a short catching practice, he was seen bowling a number of slow balls to Tamim Iqbal at the center wicket.

However, he could not bowl with long run-up. Later, he sat down with pain in his lower back. Although he has been receiving care for some time with the help of a physio but later he was not seen to practice.
“Since he is in pain, he has stopped bowling. His condition will be understood tomorrow. We are monitoring him. If the pain subsides at night, he might bowl again” said Dhaka’s physio Enamul Haque to Cricfrenzy.
In the second game of the opening day, Mushfiqur Rahim-led Khulna Tigers will take on Minister Group Dhaka, a team heavily experienced with Mashrafe, Tamim Iqbal and Mahmudullah in leading roles.
