Sri Lanka batter Bhanuka Rajapaksa has withdrawn his retirement from international cricket, eight days after sending the letter to Sri Lanka cricket.

Rajapaksa cited family problems as the reason behind his decision. However, he is set to be available for the country across all formats once again.

However, Sports Minister Namal Rajapaksa on Sunday (Jan. 09) requested the attacking left-handed batter to reconsider his decision to retire from international cricket.

Renowned cricket administrator Roshan Abeysinghe took to his Twitter account to inform the withdrawal of Rajapaksa’s letter submitted to the board.

“Great news! Welcome back @BhanukaRajapak3 Cricketer Bhanuka Rajapakshe withdraws his resignation letter handed over to Sri Lanka Cricket – SLC” it read.

He also came under the spotlight for questioning selection policies in an interview after being left out for fitness concerns and was handed a suspended one-year ban.
