North Zone thrash South in the Independence Cup opener

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) North Zone has started the Independence Cup with a big win. Naeem Islam and Parvez Hossain Emon’s half-centuries helped to win the match by 8 wickets against BCB South Zone, who were bowled out for 162 runs.
The South Zone won the toss and elected to bat on Sunday at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. Shafiqul Islam's speed and Sunzamul Islam's and Naeem‘s spin restricted them for 162 runs in 42.4 overs.

Touhid Hridoy from the south has fought alone for the team before he became the victim of Sanjamul after scoring 55 runs in 3 fours off 77 balls. Besides, 47 runs from 76 balls came from Pinak Ghosh's bat.
Among the North bowlers, Shafiqul and Sunzamul took three wickets each, while Naeem Islam took two wickets. North Zone did not have to face any danger in the end with the easy target of 163 runs. Emon and Naeem’s match-winning innings reached them to the victory port with 114 balls in hand.
Emon was dismissed for 54 off 54 balls with 5 fours and 4 sixes. On the other hand, Naeem, who took two wickets, remained unbeaten with the half-century.
Naeem made his 66-run unbeaten innings off 84 balls with 9 fours. Marshall Ayub accompanied him with 32 runs off 41 balls. Mehedi Hasan and Kamrul Islam took one wicket each for the South Zone and pacer Mustafizur Rahman was wicketless and has given 21 runs in 7 overs.
