Tigers hunt elusive win against New Zealand

Bangladesh clinched a historic 8-wicket win at Mount Maunganui on Wednesday, thus registering their first-ever win against New Zealand away from home. The win gave Bangladesh a 1-0 lead in the two-match series.
It was also New Zealand's first loss in 16 home Tests over the past four years. However, this in Bangladesh's first WTC win in this current cycle.
Bangladesh chased down the small target of 40 runs losing 2 wickets in 16.5 overs before lunch on day 5. Mushfiqur Rahim made the winning run by striking a four through the backward point off Kyle Jamieson to create history as skipper Mominul Haque remained unbeaten on 13.
Mahmudul Hasan Joy was ruled out as he required stitches to a split hand, Najmul Hossain Shanto was promoted to the opener and contributed 17 to the winning run chase and Shadman Islam was out for three.
Tiger pacers showed great consistency with the ball again on Day 5. Ebadot Hossain and Taskin Ahmed shared nine wickets together to stomp the hosts on 169.
Taskin took three wickets as Ebadot picked up his maiden Test fifer and returned figures of six wickets from 21 overs conceding 46 runs.
Bangladesh had built a 130-run lead before their first innings folded for 458 on Tuesday with half-centuries for Mominul Haque (88), Liton Das (86), Mahmudul Hasan Joy (78) and Najmul Hossain Shanto (64).
Earlier, Bangladesh rode on the bowling of Shoriful Islam and Mehidy Hasan Miraz taking three wickets each to bundle the hosts out for 328 runs in their first innings despite Devon Conway's hundred, which is also his first ton at home.
Bangladesh have previously lost all 32 matches played in New Zealand across all formats, including nine Tests, and they arrived to start this tour following back-to-back losses at home to Pakistan.
