Bangladesh scored 401 for six wickets at stumps, taking a 73-run lead against New Zealand which is also the first time that Tigers were able to take a lead while playing outside Asia.

Yasir Ali and Mehidy Hasan Miraz were batting on 11 and 20 runs respectively at the draw of the stumps on Day 3.

Bangladesh batters dominated the Kiwi bowlers on the third day with skipper Mominul Haque and Liton Das hitting half-centuries. Earlier on Day 2, Najmul Hossain Shanto (64) and Mahmudul Hasan Joy (78) smashed fifties for the visitors.

Bangladesh resumed on 175-2, overnight batter Joy was removed early in the morning session on 78 when Wagner had him caught at gully, while Boult clean bowled Mushfiqur shortly before the lunch break.

Then Mominul and Liton made New Zealand bowlers toil for three sessions. However, the host were able to take charge by taking late wickets.

Mominul, who top-scored with 88, having struck 12 fours in his 244-ball knock added 158 runs for the fifth wicket with Liton, who made 86 off 177 balls.

Boult removed both Mominul and Liton in between three overs. He finally broke the fifth wicket stand when he trapped Mominul for lbw. Following that, Liton also made his way to the dressing room after he edged a wide one from Boult.

Earlier, Bangladesh wrapped up the Kiwis on 328 runs in their first innings with Shoriful Islam and Miraz taking three wickets each, while Devon Conway smashed 122 for the hosts, which is also the first ton at home.
