On the first day of the two-day warm-up match in New Zealand, only 27.3 overs were played at Mount Maunganui before rain halted the match. New Zealand XI scored 71 runs for 5 wickets against Bangladesh.
After winning the toss Bangladesh elected to bowl at rain-hit Bay Oval.

Bangladesh's two new ball bowlers Abu Jayed and Taskin Ahmed have taken all the wickets together as Abu Jayed's has bagged 3 for 27, while Taskin took 2 for 26. Liton Das took 4 catches behind the wicket.
Among the three wickets of Abu Jayed, Devon Conway’s wicket was the main attraction of the day. The batsman has returned from injury as he was dismissed for naught.
At the end of the day's play, Abu Jayed said he was satisfied to be able to keep the ball in a good line.
"Today's match was on-off, it was raining again and again. The bowlers have bowled very well. The best thing was, after many days, we were able to put the ball in a good place with the new ball. All in all, the pace bowlers have bowled well. ”
This is the only warm-up match before the Test series.
