The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 IPL mega auction is set to take place in the first week of February after extending the deadline for the draft pick for the two new franchises.
As per the latest reports published on Cricket.com, “The IPL 2022 auction is all set to take place in the first week of February. The report also stated that it will be a two-day affair as it was in 2018 but the IPL GC is planning to make it a lot grander this time. Bangalore and Hyderabad have emerged as the two frontrunner cities for the IPL 2022 auction to be held keeping better screening process in mind.”

CVC Capital Partners, a British private equity and investment advisory firm, acquired the Ahmedabad franchise for INR 5625 crore but is yet to get the letter of intent from the BCCI.
While the franchise hasn’t made more progress in terms of signings, apart from roping in former IMG director Peter Griffith, it seems like they will have the nod by the end of this month. Keeping everything in mind, the board has decided to conduct the IPL auction in the first week of February, for which the venue is yet to be decided.
Bangalore and Hyderabad are the two possible venues for the auction due to a comparatively better screening process in those two cities.
