Tigers begin practice after mandatory quarantine

Bangladesh team has completed the first phase of isolation and began their practice in Christchurch, New Zealand. Although, the practice session was interrupted due to rain.


Bangladesh contingent underwent the Covid-19 test yesterday and all returned a positive result except spin bowling coach Rangana Herath.

“Congratulations to all for the 50 years of Bangladesh. Today we have some good news here. Everyone returned negative in the Covid-19 test. It has given us all a chance to practice but could not practice due to rain. Now we will do gym session,” said Khaled Mahmud in a video message on Thursday.


Herath and eight other members of the Bangladesh team have been isolated as they boarded the same flight to New Zealand alongside a person who had tested positive for the virus.


“Tomorrow we will shift to another hotel and those who were Yellow Band will stay here till 20th. They will be able to use the gym from tomorrow and they will join us on December 21. Rangana Herath has been taken to the quarantine center,” he added.


Bangladesh will play the first Test match on January 1, following that the second and final Test of the series will start on January 9 in Christchurch.
