Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) chief selector Minhazul Abedin Nannu told the media on Friday [August 20] that he expects opener Tamim Iqbal’s return in the first week of September. He also remained hopeful for him to be fit before the ICC T20 World Cup.
Tamim has been suffering from a knee injury for a long time. He could not play in the Super League phase of Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League. Despite touring Zimbabwe for ODIs, Tamim did not play in Tests and T20s.

According to the chief selector, Tamim has completed 6 weeks of rehabilitation and is preparing to return to the field in early September.
“I hope he will be on the field from the first week of September. There is still a lot of time for the World Cup. I hope he will be fit before the World Cup,” said Nannu.
Tamim was not included in the squad for the upcoming New Zealand T20 series. However, Nannu believes it won’t be a problem for Tamim to adapt even if he did not play four consecutive T20 series.
“Tamim is well-experienced. It won’t be difficult for him to adapt to the international arena. Any player can get injured. It matters how fast he comes back from it,” he added.
