DPL officials face attack in Savar

A Dhaka Premier League microbus carrying umpires and match officials was attacked by protesting workers in Savar this morning, delaying one of the early matches at BKSP.


The incident occurred this morning on the way to BKSP, when protesting Savar EPZ workers pelted stones at the microbus.

The microbus, which was attacked, had eight authorities on board. However, no one was hurt inside the microbus.


The other vehicles, which were carrying additional officials and players, had managed to avoid being involved in the event.


Kazi Inam Ahmed, the chairman of the cricket committee of Dhaka Metropolis, called it an "unfortunate incident",


"The match officials showed great courage in the face of such an incident. They could start the matches at 9.30am. The match officials had a police escort but four of them were facing thousands of people in that protest" said to media.
