Abahani clinch DPL title after beating Mohammedan in final-day showdown

Abahani Limited won against Brother’s Union by nine wickets in the Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier Division T20 League encounter at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur today. The match was reduced to 11 overs per innings as the game was delayed due to rain.

Chasing the target of 102 runs, Abahani made an explosive start with the openers Naim Sheikh and Munim Shahriar. However, Munim departed after a stormy innings of 25 runs off 12 balls, aided by four 4 and one six.

Then, captain Mushfiqur Rahim and Naim guided the team putting 64-run partnership for the win. Mushfiqur was not-out, who scored 37 run off 21 deliveries, hitting six boundaries and one six. While, Naim scored 36 run with two fours and one six.

The openers Junaid Siddique (20) and Mizanur Rahman (20) led to a good start for Brothers Union, however, the middle order collapsed. In the end Alauddin Babu and Zahiduzzaman's cameo innings helped them to score 101 runs losing 5 wickets in 11 overs.

Alauddin played a stormy innings of 24 runs off 10 balls struck one four and three sixes. While Zahiduzzamn scored 25 runs faced 10 balls with two fours and two sixes.

For Abahani, Tanzim Hasan Sakib bagged three wickets for nine runs in his two overs. Arafat Sunny took a couple of wickets spending 5 runs in two overs.
