Bangladesh pacer Taskin Ahmed is all set to receive the central contract for both ODI and Test format following his performance against Sri Lanka in the recently-concluded Test and ODI series.

Due to injury and poor performances, Taskin has been out of the BCB's central contract for the past three years. According to Cricbuzz, he will be included in ODIs and Tests while considering his workload management.

Bangladesh team leader Khaled Mahmud told Cricbuzz that they are having discussions regarding the workload of the right-arm pace bowler.

"Look we have to understand that we cannot put overload on Taskin as it can backfire. Taskin bowled a lot of overs in the Test series against Sri Lanka. He is very much in the ODI plans but if we push him to play all three formats all the time it can be harmful in the long run. We need to make a balance somewhere and that is most important if we want long service from players like Taskin."said Mahmud.

Taskin told Cricbuzz ,''Yes, Nannu Sir (chief selector Minhajul Abedin) spoke with me after the series (two Tests against Sri Lanka),'' said Taskin. ''It is not that I will not play T20Is. It's just that they wanted me to concentrate on Tests and ODIs."

This year, 18 cricketers are going to be included in the central contract of BCB. The final decision will be taken at the next board meeting. Although there were 17 cricketers in the 2020 contract, this time it has been increased from 18.

BCB chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury told reporters "In the last board meeting we decided that we will take a final decision regarding how many cricketers are going to be in the central contract in our next board meeting,"

"As you all know, we basically finalize the contract for the period of January-December. But we are doing it right now because we didn't play much international cricket last year for the coronavirus outbreak," he added.

The country's best all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is also returning to the central contract in all three format, as he was out of the game due to one-year ban imposed by the International Cricket Council (ICC).
