Bangladesh's series against Sri Lanka ended with a sigh of regret, the Tigers couldn’t clean sweep the visitors. Ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan also has that regret. However, the southpaw felt pride for the first bilateral series win over Lankans. Bangladesh won the just-concluded three-match series 2-1.
With these two victories, Bangladesh topped the points list of the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League. In the last match, the team wanted to whitewash the Lankans with another victory and strong the top spot position in the Super League with 60 points. But in the third match on Friday Bangladesh lost by 97 runs.

The day after the series ended, Shakib arrived at a hotel in the capital to unveil the jersey of Dhaka Premier League team Mohammedan Sporting Club. He expressed frustration over the end of the Sri Lanka series but the gain from the series is bigger for him.

"I think it's very good (the result of the series). For the first time we won the series over Sri Lanka. Very good in that case. Of course, it would have been better to win 3-0. At the same time, if Sri Lanka played their best cricket, the result could have gone the other way. All in all, I think we should all be proud of the series that has gone and move forward,” said Shakib.
However, Shakib's performance didn't shine as his standard. He played this series in a short preparation after being in quarantine for a long time after returning from IPL. He scored only 19 runs in three matches and took 3 wickets.
