Perera-Chameera save SL from whitewash as Bangladesh fail to clinch 10 points

Century from skipper Kusal Perera and Dushmantha Chameera’s fifer propelled Sri Lanka to win by 97 runs against Bangladesh in the last and final ODI of the three match series at Mirpur’s Sher-e-Bangla national cricket stadium on Friday.
Bangladesh have scored 189 runs losing all wickets after playing 42.3 overs. Mahmudullah Riyad made a half-century, scored 53 runs off 63 balls with 2 fours and one six. As a result Bangladesh lost the opportunity to grab 10 points from the ICC men’s cricket world cup super league. Despite all that, the Tigers maintain their stay at the top with 50 points from nine games.
Bangladesh batsman failed to make a good start in reply to 287-run target by Sri Lanka. As opener Mohammad Naim (1) took an early exit from the pitch. The batsman was caught at the slip by Kusal Mendis off Chameera.
All-rounder Shakib al Hasan (4) also departed early in the third over of the match. Chameera picked up his second wicket as Shakib was caught at square leg by Ramesh Mendis.
Then skipper Tamim Iqbal (17) becomes the third wicket of Chameera. However, Tamim took an review but he was given out.
After that Mosaddek came to the crease to join Mushfiqur Rahim. The batters could resist for some while, stitched 56 runs partnership for the fourth wicket. However, Mushfiqur (28) became the victim of Ramesh during the 23rd over.
Mosaddek made a patient half-century having Mahmudullah on the other side. Just after completing his half-ton the batsman tried to play a reverse-sweep but was caught by Binura Fernando.
Wanindu Hasaranga led to an end of 33-run partnerships between Mahmudullah and Afif Hossain (16). Then Mehidy Hasan Miraz (0) was returned for a naught, in the same over Taskin (0) was bowled and Chameera registered five-wicket haul.
Earlier, the visitors won the toss and chose to bat first, scoring 286 in 50 overs while losing six wickets. Sri Lanka batsmen Dhananjaya de Silva (55) and Ramesh (8) remained unbeaten at the end of the innings.

Danushka Gunathilaka and Perera got off to a good start, putting on 82 runs for the opening partnership.

Bangladesh pacer Taskin Ahmed made a breakthrough for the side as he took two wickets in the 12th over as Gunathilaka (39) and Pathum Nissanka (0) went back to pavilion for a naught.
Gunathilaka returned with an inside edge, hitting the stumps. Then Pathum Nissanka edged the last ball of the over to wicket-keeper Mushfiqur.
Taskin took his third wicket of Kusal Mendis who was caught at the mid-off by skipper Tamim. However in the 24th over Afif dropped the catch of Kusal a delivery by Shakib.
Perera completed his 6th ODI hundred after three tough chances, dropped off by Fizz, Afif and Mahmudullah. He was dropped on 99 by Mahmudullah off Mustafizur. As Perera tried to flick the ball towards the leg side but got an edge, Mahmuddulah did well to get there with a sprint, but couldn't the catch.
Perera was dropped twice off the bowling of Shakib, once on 66 and then on 79, Parera took 99 balls to hit the century.
Perera's brilliant knock came to an end by young pacer Shoriful Islam, as the batsman tried chipped it towards deep mid-off but unfortunately caught by Mahmudullah. He scored 120 runs off 122 deliveries hitting 11 fours and one six. Parera and de Silva added 65 runs for the fourth-wicket partnership.
Then, wicket-keeper Niroshan Dickwella (7) was returned by Shoriful by being run-out. Following that Hasaranga (18) also could not settle down on the pitch, Taskin hunted his fourth wicket of the match.
Mushfiqur, who scored 237 runs with one century and fifty, adjudged player of the series. Chameera became the man of the match.
