Former Australia opener Cameron Bancroft has revealed that bowlers were aware of the ball tampering in South Africa that saw the batsman, Steve Smith and David Warner each banned from cricket for at least nine months.
In an interview with The Guardian, the 28-year-old admitted that he, his former captain, and his former vice captain were not the only ones involved in the scandal that shook the sporting.

“All I wanted to do was to be responsible and accountable for my own actions and part. Yeah, obviously what I did benefits bowlers and the awareness around that, probably, is self-explanatory,”
“I guess one thing I learnt through the journey and being responsible is that’s where the buck stops (with Bancroft). Had I had better awareness I would have made a much better decision.” Bancroft said.
On day three of the third Test of the four-match series, Bancroft was caught on camera using a sandpaper to alter the condition of the ball. After realising he had been caught red-handed, Bancroft slid the sandpaper inside his trousers.
When asked again whether the bowlers knew, Bancroft said: "Uh ... yeah, look, I think, yeah, I think it's pretty probably self-explanatory."
Bancroft recently arrived in England ahead of an upcoming county season with Durham.
