South African player Rassie van der Dussen won’t be joining the Rajasthan Royals (RR) for the Indian Premier League (IPL). The right-handed batsman was stated to join RR as a replacement of Ben Stokes, who was ruled out due to a finger injury.
The South Africa cricketer will not be able to join the side after failing to obtain the NOC from Cricket South Africa. As per a report in Cricinfo, CSA cited injury as the reason behind not issuing the No Objection Certificate.

This will be a huge disappointment for the Royals, as many other international players have withdrawn from the competition. Jofra Archer, Stokes, Liam Livingstone, and Andrew Tye had previously withdrawn from the tournament. Archer was the Most Valuable Player (MVP) in IPL 2020 despite the team finishing at the bottom of the ladder.
Meanwhile, South African pacer Gerald Coetzee has joined Rajasthan Royals as Liam Livingstone’s replacement. The IPL issued a press release on Saturday to confirm the development.
RR are set to lock horns with the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Sunday, May 2 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. In their previous game at the same venue, Mumbai Indians (MI) beat them by seven wickets.
