Delhi Capitals batsman Shikhar Dhawan decided to donate ₹20 lakh plus all his post-match individual performance awards to help fund the requirement of oxygen as India battle a disastrous second wave of Covid-19.
Dhawan announced in a tweet on Friday. "We are in unprecedented times right now, and it is the need of the hour that we do everything possible to help each other out,”

"Over the years, I have received incredible love and support from all of you, for which I am eternally grateful. It's now my turn to give back to the people of this country.”
"I will be making a donation of ₹20 lakhs, plus money from all post-match individual performance awards that I receive from the IPL 2021 towards Mission Oxygen to help fund the requirement of oxygen," Dhawan tweeted.
Earlier, KKR and Australian pacer Pat Cummins was the first among overseas players to contribute, donating USD 50,000.
IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals also contributed INR 7.5 crores (over $1mn) towards Covid Relief to help the people in India impacted by the surge of Covid-19 virus.
India's cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar donated Rs one crore to procure oxygen concentrators for COVID-19 patients in the country.
