Akram Khan admitted to hospital with coronavirus

The former Bangladesh captain and current cricket operation chairman of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Akram Khan has tested positive for COVID-19 on last Saturday, however, he has been hospitalized on Thursday [April 15].

The 52-year old former skipper who played eight Tests and 44 one-day internationals for Bangladesh, was in isolation in his residence but had to be admitted to the hospital due to excessive coughing.

“His cough increased a lot and so we have brought him to the hospital. Just before Iftar his blood test was done along with other tests and now we are waiting for the test results,” Sabina Akram, wife of Akram.

Akram's lungs have been infected by 30%, according to doctors, but his oxygen saturation level is currently fine.

BCB’s chief curator Gamini de Silva also tested positive for the virus on April 8.
