South Africa have been fined 20 per cent of their match fees in the first Twenty20 match for maintaining a slow over-rate against Pakistan at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg. The ICC (International Cricket Council) confirmed this information in a press release.
ICC Elite Panel match referee Andy Pycroft imposed the sanction after Klaasen’s side was ruled to be one over short of the target after time allowances were taken into consideration.

Under Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct, team members are fined 20 per cent of the match fee for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time.
There was no need for a separate hearing as Captain Klaassen accepted the sanction. On field umpires Adrian Holdstock and third umpire Bongani Jale and fourth umpire Shawn George brought charges.
South Africa are desperate to turn around in the second T20 after losing the first match. For that purpose, they will play the second match against Pakistan on April 12. Earlier, the hosts lost the ODI series 2-1.
