John Lewis will serve as Bangladesh's batting consultant during the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has extended his contract till this month's series. BCB chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury confirmed the news to the media.

Neil McKenzie stepped down as the Tigers' batting coach in August of last year stating personal reasons. Lewis was appointed as the Bangladesh national team's batting consultant by BCB in January. He then worked with batsmen during their series against the West Indies and New Zealand.
Despite being with the Bangladesh team for almost three and a half months, no improvement was seen among the batsmen. However, BCB has extended the contract till the Test series against Sri Lanka.
Basically, the BCB has taken such a decision because Bangladesh team is having a tight schedule, "We have extended the contract till the tour of Sri Lanka due to back to back series. Then we will decide on the next step,” Nizamuddin said.
