Bangladesh have fought to save the three-match T20I series but hosts New Zealand have sealed the second T20I by 28 (D/L method) runs at McLean Park in Napier Tuesday. The match reduced to 16 overs due to rain and the target was 170 runs after some drama.
Bangladesh were batting without a target in mind, after 1.3 overs match referee Jeff Crowe announced the revised target for the Tigers. It’s was the first time in history.
In reply, Bangladesh lost Liton Das early but allrounder Soumya Sarkar went on the attack, notching a half-century off 25 balls before falling on 51.

Phillips' part-time spin then slowed the run rate and was rewarded with the wicket of Mohammad Naim for 38, leaving Bangladesh struggling for runs. Then Bangladesh batsmen wickets crumbled down. Tim Southee, Hamish Bennett and Adam Milne all bagged two wickets for the blackcaps.
Earlier, New Zealand were in trouble as they lost early wickets, Glenn Phillips' half-century and Daryl Mitchell stormy innings of 34 off 16 balls helped the team to reach a strong position 173 for 5 wickets. But due to rain the target was reduced to 170. Phillips was unbeaten on 58 off 31 balls by making five boundaries and two sixes.
Opener Martin Guptill and Devon Conway returned to dressing room within 55 runs on the score board. Taskin took an extraordinary catch of Guptill in the slips, he returned scoring 21 runs and on the other hand, Conway gets out on 15 by young pacer Shoriful Islam.
New Zealand started well as the two openers Martin Guptil and Finn Allen made 36 runs of partnership. However, Finn Allen returned in the 3rd over by Taskin Ahmed caught by Naim Sheikh on the mid-wicket. He returns scoring 17 off 10 balls with 2 fours and one six. Skipper Mahmuddullah dropped a catch by Finn Allen on 15 runs in the same over.
Will Young was also unable to last for long as Mahedi Hasan picked him as his first victim. Mark Chapman becomes his second victim, the batsman returned scoring 7 runs.
