Bangladesh have lost second ODI of the three-match series against New Zealand on Tuesday at Hagley Oval, Christchurch. Visitors several fielding misses and Kiwi skipper Tom Latham’s ton helped the host to clinch the match and series by five wickets.
Left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman gave Bangladesh the first breakthrough in the last ball of fifth over by taking the wicket of opener Martin Guptil (20) as they were chasing 272 runs to win. Then spinner Mahedi Hasan bowled out another opener Henry Nichols (13). Mahedi grabbed Will Young's (1) wicket in his second over.
After losing 3 wickets for just 53 runs, Devon Conway and Tom Latham put up resistance. New Zealand was doing quite well as paired for century partnership. However, their pair of 113 runs was broken by Tamim's great throw. Conway (72) returned to the dressing room regretting not being able to score a century.

Then Mushfiqur gave chance to the blackcaps to win the match by dropping an easy catch off James Neesham in Taskin Ahmed's over, followed by the next over Latham got life in Mahedi's hand.

Latham grabbed the opportunity and picked up the century. Though Neesham (30) returned to the stand at the end, the Kiwi captain ensured the victory of the team from unbeaten 110 runs with 10 fours. Mustafiz and Mahedi took 2 wickets each for Bangladesh.
Earlier, Bangladesh lost the toss and send to bat, opener Liton Das got out early as the right-hander got out in the second over scoring naught. Tamim and Soumya Sarker then formed an 81 runs partnership on the second wicket. Soumya scored 32 before being stumped on 21st over.
Later Tamim scored past his 50th fifty in ODI cricket. Tamim scored 78 with 11 fours and lost his wicket through run out while taking a quick single in 31st over. This left-arm opener is the first Bangladeshi to achieve this feat.
Mithun has been the highlight of Bangladesh's batting for the rest of the time. He was unbeaten on 73 off 57 balls with four sixes. However, Mushfiqur (32) and Mahmudullah (16) helped him to continue the run flow for the Tigers. Mahedi, who made his debut in the previous match, returned with 7 runs today.
Mitchell Santner got the highest two wickets for the home side.
