Visitor Bangladesh have suffered a huge defeat in the first ODI against New Zealand as the Kiwis won the match by 8 wickets on Saturday. Batting first, Bangladesh were bowled out by 131 runs but spin bowling all-rounder Mahedi Hasan, who made his debut in this match, thinks that Bangladesh is not a team to be out to such a low score.
After losing the first match, Tiger captain Tamim Iqbal also said that this team isn’t a team to be out of scoring 130 runs. Mahedi also thinks that Bangladesh is not a team that can perform so badly. That day was a bad day for everyone.

“Our team is not like that. It was a bad day, no one could do better. So we are forgetting that we have a match upfront and we are focusing on that. In Sha Allah it will be very good. Our team combination is very good. Yes, if the team performs according to the combination, In Sha Allah the result will be good” said Mahedi.

Bangladesh top-order batsmen were felt discomfort in-front of Trent Bolt-Kyle Jamieson's speed and swing in Dunedin’s wicket. Then at number eight, Mahedi went down to play the first international match of his career and hit a six off the second ball. Though Bangladesh didn't win the match, the moment will be memorable for this all-rounder.
“The debut match of a cricketer is always very memorable. Having played cricket for so many years, my first match in international cricket was in ODIs. It certainly would have been better if he had won the match” he added.
