New Zealand have whitewashed the opponents in five of the last seven ODI series played at home. New Zealand captain Tom Latham aims to extend his team's winning streak in this series.
Regular captain Kane Williamson was ruled out due to an old elbow injury, experienced batsman Ross Taylor will miss out the first ODI due to hamstring injury. However, Latham claims that the cricketers who have been called up for the first time have proved themselves in the team. So the skipper is confident to continue the streak of success.

“It is another exciting opportunity for this group. It is a slightly different group with few new faces. The guys have been playing some really good cricket this year, both red and white ball. Fingers crossed that we can continue the form we have had. We understand that it has been a long time for Bangladesh in quarantine and then be out and playing this game, so we thank them for that," Latham told to news conference.
Latham is waiting for a great milestone before playing against Bangladesh in Dunedin. The 28-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman is on the verge of playing the 100th ODI of his career.
“It is very exciting. To play one game is pretty cool but to play one-hundred, and then have the captaincy is pretty cool. I am certainly very proud to have played that many games and lead the side. It is a great group to lead. I have done little bit in the past, but certainly it certainly makes my job reasonably easier with the amount of experience we’ve got, ” he said.
“The pride is massive. It is an honour to be able to captain New Zealand. It is something that you dream of doing, and to be given the opportunity again is really nice. Hopefully we can start the series well. I remember my first ODI was down here. It is nice to play the first and the 100th down here.” He added.
Bangladesh will take on New Zealand in the first match of the three-match ODI series on Saturday [March 20]. The series is part of the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League.
