Tamim Iqbal has started his journey as the ODI captain of Bangladesh with the series against West Indies a few days ago as Bangladesh are currently staying in quarantine in New Zealand before playing a three-match ODI and an equal number of T20 matches. This series is extra important for the captain, who is going to lead the team for the first time in home soil.

Tamim said that everyone's attention will return to cricket as soon as the practice starts. He believes if players do well as a team and if the plan can be implemented, Bangladesh can beat any team.

"This is my first foreign tour as a captain. I am optimistic. I'm sure we'll be ready as a team during practice sessions before the first ODI. Honestly what I feel, talking to the players, everyone wants to do well. Players wants to do well for the team” said Tamim in a video massage on Monday.

“If all of us test Covid negative tomorrow [Tuesday], we will be able to use the gym from the day after tomorrow. There are two gyms down here. From day 8, if all goes well, we will be allowed to practice in small groups. Where we can go to the field and practice. It seems to be a long time ago. Whenever these start, our focus will be fully back on cricket" skipper added.
