Former Bangladesh cricketers Abdur Razzak have officially announced his retirements from cricket in front of the media after a small program arranged by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and Cricketers’ Welfare Association (COAB) jointly at the BCB Headquarters in Mirpur Saturday.
Razzak will be seen in the role of third selector along with chief selectors Minhazul Abedin Nannu and Habibul Bashar. Meanwhile, Shahriar Nafees also said goodbye to all forms of cricket with Razzak. He has been appointed as the Deputy Manager of the Board's Cricket Management Division.
“Till yesterday [Friday] I could say I am a cricketer, from now on I have to say something else, which is my job. May be I’m saying it easily but for me it’s not that much easy. I'm still dizzy. I’m with cricket since 1994, I was admitted to BKSP. Saying goodbye to that thing ... is not that normal. There is a time when every human being has to go from one job to another.. I’m very emotional right now. It's a little difficult for me to say something properly.” said 38 years old Razzak during the ceremony.
Razzak, who made his first class cricket debut in 2001-02 season, took 634 wickets in 137 matches. The left-arm spinner has set the record for the first 500 and 600 first-class wicket-taker for Bangladesh. Also Razzak is the highest wicket-taker for Bangladesh in first-class cricket with five wickets (in innings) and 10 wickets in a match. This Veteran believes new players will come through first class cricket and will perform better than him and get chance in the national side.

“I hope someone more experienced than me will play, perform and come to the national team. It would not be good for cricket without it.” he added.

The new selector admitted he will remember his cricketing journey in every step and happy to start his new role for Bangladesh cricket.
“Speaking of missing ... this is the most special time in my career. It's not like forgetting. It will be remembered step by step ... I will not miss it, it will be memorable. I would have missed it if it had been forced. It's not forced, it's my decision.”
Razzak’s records for ODI are very glorious as he is the most five-wicket haul in ODIs as a left-arm spinner for Tigers. Moreover, he became the first and fastest bowler in Bangladesh to take 200 wickets in this format. He is the second left armer in the world and the first in Bangladesh to grab a hat trick in ODIs is notable among all.
In 153 ODIs Razzak has taken 207 wickets for the national team. He took 28 wickets in 13 Tests and 44 wickets in 34 T20Is.
