West Indies bowlers have bagged hosts' top-order batsmen as they are in control of the second Test in Mirpur on day two. West Indies finished their first innings on 409 and in reply Bangladesh have lost their four batsmen for 105 runs and trailing by 304 runs after day two.

Soumya Sarkar, who came in the squad over injured Shakib Al Hasan, partnered with opener Tamim Iqbal returned early in the innings for naught. He was Shannon Gabriel’s first victim, while he got Najmul Hossain Shanto too, who is continuing to fail his task at number three position. Shanto has hit only a boundary and back to the dressing room with that.

Skipper Mominul Haque started his inning promisingly and build a decent partnership of 58 runs with Tamim before Rahkeem Cornwall got his man for 21 runs with a brilliant catch from Joshua Da Silva behind the wicket. Tamim followed his skipper after Mushfiqur Rahim came to crease as his speedy 44 runs from 52 balls finished by Alzarri Joseph. Mushfiq is fighting to avoid follow-on with another new addition to the tiger side Mohammad Mithun of 104 runs, while they are unbeaten on 27 and 6 respectively.

Earlier, after resuming on 223-5, Da Silva top scored with 92 and Joseph added 88 after Bonner missed out on converting his overnight half-century, falling for 90 in his career-best knock. Off-spinner Mehidy Hasan denied Bonner his maiden Test century dismissed him.

Da Silva got out by Taijul Islam as the batsman tried to defend the ball, but it went between the bat and pad before hitting the stumps. Taijul picked up his hundredth wicket of his Test career. Then, Alzarri was returned by Abu Jayed Rahi. They made the highest partnership of 118 runs which anchored their innings.

Jayed and Taijul soon wrapped up the West Indies innings by picking the wickets of Jomel Warrican (2) and Shannon Gabriel (8).

Brief Score: Bangladesh: 105/4 (Tamim 44, Mushfiqur 27*,Mithun 6*, Shannon 2/31, Rahkeem 1/18) trail West Indies: 409/10 ( Joshua 92 , Bonner 90, Alzarri 82, Jayed 4/98, Taijul 4/108) by 304 runs
