Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) appointed Daniel Vettori as the spin bowling consultant for the Bangladesh team in July 2019. According to the contract, he was supposed to work for 100 days but he could not fulfill it due to the corona pandemic. The former Kiwi spinner's coaching chapter is coming to an end with the series against New Zealand.

BCB does not want to sign any new contract with Vettori as Akram Khan, chairman of the BCB's cricket operations committee, told the media on Thursday. He also said that a new spin coach will be appointed at the end of the Kiwi tour.

"He had a contract of one hundred days. How long is that left.. we’ll get him there [New Zealand]. Then we talk to a couple of spin coaches. We will take if we find someone of good quality. We are trying to bring right after New Zealand tour.” said Akram.

Although he was supposed to work for 100 days but this high profile coach spent more time on vacation instead of working. Being compelled, the board is looking for an alternative. He was not with the team on the tour of Pakistan last year. He did not attend the practice camp ahead of his visit to Sri Lanka.

Later, during the BCB President's Cup, other foreign coaches observed cricketers in Bangladesh, but Vettori was not there. Even in the ongoing West Indies series, this spin bowling coach of Bangladesh is not with the team. However, he cited New Zealand's quarantine complications as the reason for his absence before the start of the series.

Despite not being present in the West Indies series, he will join the team on the New Zealand tour. BCB is going to end the contract with Vettori with that series. Akram confirms new spin bowling coach to return home after series against Kiwis.
