Host Bangladesh have started the series as favourite, they dominated and whitewashed West Indies in the ODI series 3-0 but the visitors turned the table in the Test series. Windies have sealed a majestic win by three wickets in the first Test with a magnificent display by the debutant Debutants Kyle Mayers and Nkrumah Bonner on the fifth day. However, Bangladesh is looking forward to saving the two match series in Mirpur, which set to start on Thursday.

Tigers came back to international cricket after the Corona break with full strength team Including banned all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, who adjusted player of the series in the shorter format. But his return didn’t last long as the southpaw is suffering from left thigh groin injury. He couldn’t bat or bowl in the second innings of first match. He has ruled out from the squad, while opener Shadman Islam added another blow for the side as he picked up hip injury in the previous game and couldn’t recover from it. However, Soumya Sarkar has already joined the Bangladesh squad as Shakib's replacement.

Bangladesh captain Mominul Haque doesn’t want to lose hope and expect to come back strong with lesser strong side. He believes everyone in the team is excited to take the visitors.

“Expectations are always there. My expectation as a captain is like yours too. Everyone is anxious to win this match. Excited. In Sha Allah let's see what happens tomorrow [Thursday].” said Mominul.

Left-handed Soumya can be seen in the opening with Tamim due to Shadman's injury.  Mohammad Mithun can be seen batting in Shakib's place.  Before the Dhaka Test, Bangladesh coach Russell Domingo was seen doing extra work with these two. Mominul has also hinted playing an extra batsman at number six.

“As Shadman is not there so a new one can come. And since Shakib Bhai is not there, a change may come in the middle at number six. The thing is, since we don't have Shakib Bhai, I have to take two players instead of Shakib Bhai or who can bowl and bat both.” he added.
