It was expected that the spinners would get big turns and bounce on the fifth day of Chittagong wicket. The first four days of the Test were under the control of Bangladesh. However, on the fifth day the table flipped and West Indies snatched the victory. The biggest contributor in Caribbean’s victory is Kyle Mayers, who was named as the Man of the Match.
Mayers played comfortably against the Bangladeshi spinners in the spinning wicket, scored a century in the Test and formed a record partnership with Nkrumah Bonner. By the end of the day, he turned his maiden century into a double century and left the field with a historic victory.

Naturally, the West Indies batsman suffered from nervousness. But they were positive in the whole test. Their motto was to continue the fight rather than accept defeat. Mayers said this at the award ceremony after the match.

“I always try to be positive as well as believe in my own and the team’s abilities,” he said. We were positive throughout the test. We never gave up. We always said in the dressing room that we needed to keep fighting. The captain and coach told the bowlers that it is better for you to continue fighting on this national pitch.”
Mayers did not just lead the team from the front in winning the Test in Chittagong. He made his debut as the 6th cricketer in history to score a double century in the match. At the same time the winning shot of the team also came from his bat. He thanked his teammates and family for this. The left-arm batsman also thinks that his innings will inspire the youth.
"I have a great feeling to be able to score a century in Test cricket, to turn it into a double century and to win this Test," he said. I want to thank my teammates, my coaches and everyone in the family. A double century in a person's debut Test can be an inspiration for all youngsters.
