The West Indies had to be humiliated when they visited Bangladesh in 2018 as the Caribbeans were whitewashed 2-0 in the Test series. They could not fight even the slightest against the spin attack of Bangladesh. But West Indies stand-in skipper Kraigg Brathwaite takes that defeat as main motivation for this series.
Brathwaite said the Windies needed be wary of a strong Bangladesh spin attack, boosted by the return of star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, set to play his first Test since 2019 following a ban for failing to report corrupt approaches.
“We lost the series here last time, which is the No 1 motivation for us. We have to be positive, by rotating the strike, looking to be aggressive. They are quality bowlers but I think we have the skills to come out on top and get big runs. I am backing the batters. The guys have put in some work, and we all look forward to the challenge,” he said in a virtual press conference on Tuesday.

Brathwaite often dazzled with the bat against Bangladesh. But that is on their own soil. He has scored 563 runs at an average of 93.83 in four matches against the Tigers in the West Indies. And in Bangladesh he managed to score only 105 runs in 4 matches at an average of 13.12.
