The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced an 18-member Test squad against the West Indies on Saturday as BCB selectors decided to include five fast bowlers in the squad. Selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu said too many fast bowlers were kept with the injuries in mind before going down to play Tests and also for the future tours.
Uncapped young gun Hasan Mahmud came to the notice of the selectors with the Under-19 World Cup in 2018. Now he is one of the fast bowlers in Tiger squad. Experienced Mustafizur Rahman, Abu Jayed Rahi and Ebadat Hossain have been regular faces of the last few series, Taskin Ahmed, is also in the squad. He last appeared on the field in 2017.
"There are five pacers here because after a long time we are playing Tests, anyone can get injured at any time. At the end of the five-day Test you cannot say that their stamina will remain the same. As such, we have five pacers thinking about their fitness level. Everyone's fitness level is in good condition and hopefully we will get them in good condition in both the Tests too.” Nannu said about the five pacers on Sunday.

“Spinners and pace bowlers in the team all have to be ready. Because when we build a squad, we don't just build team for a Test match in mind. Though we play spinner more at home. To balance the combination and the standard of the bowlers is always in our mind.” he added.
The first Test will undergo from February 3rd at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury stadium in Chattogram, while second Test will be held in Mirpur from 11th February. Nannu said it was not yet certain how many pacers would be in the playing XI.
"We always play the way we do at home, It's hard to say right now, the final XI will be finalized within 24 hours. How many spinners or seamers are about to play will be decided then. It is difficult to say in advance who will play.”
