Team India have registered a convincing Test series win by 2-1 against Australia recently. Currently, they are preparing for the upcoming four-match Test series against England at home. And, England coach Chris Silverwood said on Tuesday that they will have to play their best to beat India. It is also noteworthy that, Team India had played without a few of their key players.
"The one thing Australia has shown is India will be a difficult team to beat. It's a great challenge for us," Silverwood has said during a virtual press conference. "Do I think we can beat them? Yes. I always take the positive side of things - I think we can beat them, but we know it's going to be a hard-fought contest,"
"If we come out on top of this one, confidence again will go through the roof for us. I respect the fact they are a fine side with some really good players. We're going to have to be at the top of our game," Silverwood said.
It is also noteworthy that, England will play a full-fledged series against India, which will begin with the four-match Test series, starting in Chennai on February 5, followed by five T20Is and three ODIs as well.
While India have recently won the Test series against Australia, England have also won a 2-0 Test series win in Sri Lanka. However, they are looking forward to securing their first series win in India since they won by 2-1 way back in 2012.
"We're going there with our eyes open. We know it's going to be a tough challenge. We know they're an excellent team, especially in our own conditions, and we respect that," Silverwood said. "But I think it's an exciting challenge. We are in a good place. We're constancy growing. But we completely respect how big a challenge it is."
