Bangladesh beat West Indies by seven wickets in the second ODI as Tigers clinch the three match ODI series with one match in hand on Friday in Mirpur.
With this, Bangladesh won the series against West Indies 5 times. Bangladesh first whitewashed the Caribbean on their soil in 2009. The red-green team also won the series 3-2 at home in 2012-13.
The hosts reached the target of 149 runs in 33.2 overs. The highest 50 runs comes from the captain Tamim’s bat. Shakib remained unbeaten on 43 runs.
Tamim and Liton Das got off to a good start as the ODI captain played slow at the beginning but Liton was busy scoring fast runs. However, just before the sixth over, Liton was dismissed for 22 runs. Last match’s bright performer Akeal Hossain got the wicket. He dismissed Liton, who hit four boundaries in a leg-before trap.

Despite losing his partner, Tamim kept the run wheel in motion with Najmul Hossain Shanto. However, Shanto, who scored 17 and left the crease when the Tigers put 77 on board.

With Shakib coming down at number four, Tamim took the team to over 100 and also completed his half century. However, the ODI captain threw the wicket after reaching the milestone. He returned with 50 runs but Shakib who found magic in his bat and Mushfiqur Rahim (9*) took the team to victory.
Earlier, Bangladesh bowlers have restricted Windies again for a low total as inexperience Caribbeans all out for 148. Spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz got his career best bowling figure as he grabbed four wickets for 25 runs, while Shakib Al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman took two wickets each.
Miraz got Kjorn Ottley (24), Joshua Da Silva (5), Sunil Ambris (6) and Raymon Reifer, while Shakib sent Andre McCarthy (3) and skipper Jason Mohammed (11). Last match’s only decent scorer Kyle Mayers (0) got run out by a good piece fielding of Najmul Hossain Shanto. Fiz was very economical with the ball with 8-15-2 bowling figure. Hasan Mamud was a bit expensive with ball today, he gave 54 runs in nine overs for one wicket.
Rovman Powell tried to build partnership with tale-enders but didn't get the support. He went for highest 41 runs.
Miraz named player of the match. The third and final ODI will be played on 25th later this month at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram.
