West Indies lost by 6 wickets in the first ODI against Bangladesh as Caribbean batsmen have failed to put up a competitive score. West Indies acting captain Jason Mohammed is regretting that the batsmen have not been able to form a big partnership.
The Caribbean batsmen could not stand in front of the great performance of the bowlers of Bangladesh. Left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman started the spell and sent off Joshua da Silva and Sunil Ambris in the middle of the team's 24 runs. After that Shakib Al Hasan returned Andre McCarthy, Nkrumah Bonner and Jason to the pavilion
Caribbean’s lost 5 wickets for only 56 runs and fell into a batting disaster. From there Rovman Powell and debutant Kyle Mayers took the helm of the team. They made a pair of 59 runs. After Mayers (40) and Powell (28) got out, then no other partnerships were build. The Caribbean captain expected some more pairing like this two.

“I think it was a bit of a disappointment. It wasn’t easy to get started, but we didn’t have enough people to partner with and those who started well couldn’t continue. (Mayers and Powell) partnership was great when we were under pressure. But we needed more runs.” said Jason after the match.

However, the young man in maroons showed good bowling from the side. They created pressure on the batsman. Meanwhile, spinner Akeal Hosein was praised by the captain.
"It's a very difficult place to come here and play cricket. The wicket was very slow and was spinning. No matter what we score we try to create pressure and get the other team out. Akeal bowled well. There are some positive things we can consider.” he further said.
